When: November, 2003 - March, 2004
(see schedule for a workshop near you)

Where: Various locations throughout Kentucky

Why:
To prevent erosion and sediment losses from construction sites
To reduce sedimentation of Kentucky streams, rivers, and lakes
To help meet new stormwater program requirements

You are invited to register for these workshops, which are part of a series of workshops on Erosion and Sediment Controls for Construction Sites in Kentucky. The workshops are sponsored in part by the Kentucky Division of Water and Kentucky Division of Conservation. The workshops can help your employees reduce erosion and sediment losses in from construction sites in the Commonwealth, and help you meet part of the regulatory requirements for the Phase II Stormwater Permit Program, which call for public outreach/education and erosion and sediment controls for ALL construction sites of greater than one acre.

The workshops are targeted at excavation contractors, developers, equipment operators, public works employees, staff involved in the stormwater program, code enforcement officers, and anyone else involved in construction projects that include earthwork or excavation. Private citizens are also invited to attend.

Workshops will include information on preventing erosion, controlling sedimentation, protecting streamside vegetation, staging/phasing construction activities, and preserving existing vegetation where possible. Workshop notebooks will include a PowerPoint presentation containing graphics and slides used in the training workshops, illustrations of recommended practices, case studies, handouts, and a list of contacts/resources.
